+157% blooms and +87% branches per plant
Request a QuoteA specialty orchid grower in Mexico wanted to increase bloom count and branching density to improve plant quality and shelf appeal without changing the existing nutrient program. The trial evaluated whether an ABI microbial consortium of beneficial bacteria and fungi could improve flowering performance under matched growing conditions. Over a four-month period, branches and blooms per plant were measured across treated and untreated groups.
The untreated control plants averaged 36 branches and 127 blooms per plant during the four-month trial. In commercial orchid production, branch count and bloom density are the two metrics that most directly drive plant value at point of sale, because buyers grade heavily on visible fullness and flower count.
The treated plants averaged 67.5 branches per plant, an 87.5% increase, and 327 blooms per plant, a 157% increase, or 2.6 times the control. Treated plants were visibly fuller with stronger display quality and commercial presentation, a substantial gain in flowering performance from a single addition to the existing program.
